Job Description
Tinnelly Group has an immediate vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor based at our Newry headquarters. Operating primarily in the demolition sector across the island of Ireland, Tinnelly Group is widely regarded as one of the leading companies in the sector, with clients ranging from Bluechip international clients to Tier 1 construction companies. With extensive experience working in main contractor / PSCS roles on multi-million euro contracts, Tinnelly Group is equally at home operating as a sub-contractor to a wide range of building / civil engineering contractors on projects within commercial, industrial, residential and retail environments. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent technical capabilities with an innovative and collaborative approach to problem solving in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to The Board of Directors, this is a senior position that will influence the strategic and day to day running of the group, with a competitive package commensurate with the expectations of the role. Key Responsibilities:
- Developing & assessing tender opportunities.
- Compiling competitive tenders in accordance with strict deadlines and technical requirements, including identifying value engineering opportunities without compromising the quality or safety of the project.
- Collaborate across departments to compile technically excellent tender submissions.
- Keep up to date with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements that may impact the demolition project. Ensure compliance and integrate these considerations into cost estimates.
- Negotiate effectively to ensure the optimum outcome.
- Effective contract administration ensuring identifying & mitigating contractual risk associated with projects.
- Assess & price variations and change orders, working closely with the project team to manage and document changes effectively.
- Submit accurate Payment Claim Notices / Claims in a timely manner.
- Generate regular financial reports, including cost forecasts, CVR reports, and cash flow projections. Communicate financial updates to The Board of Directors.
Additional Information
Essential criteria:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Commercial management or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience gained within a demolition, civil engineering or general contracting environment, and will be familiar with Irish / UK contracts and procurement processes.
- Alternatively we will also consider candidates from a trade background who have returned to college (part or full time) and are now degree qualified with a minimum of 3 years post degree experience.
- Proficiency in quantity take-off software and cost estimation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse project stakeholders.
- Familiarity with contract administration and construction project management.
- Sound understanding of financial principles and budget control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced demolition environment.
