National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square, Dublin

The Tinnelly Group were involved in major structural works at the National Gallery. As the building is a listed building the demolition works were extremely carefully managed and conducted.

Works involved installation of significant propping systems to facilitate wall and floor slab removals throughout the building. More modern building sections which adjoined the listed structures were also carefully demolished and removed. The works were conducted over a 2 year period working closely with the main contractor, John Paul Construction and the design team.

Delicate salvage of listed and architecturally significant elements were professionally conducted by The Tinnelly Group, in conjunction with conservation architects.

The project was featured on a special RTE programme “Portait of a Gallery” – The Tinnelly Group featured extensively on the programme, which showed the complexities and technical expertise required throughout the project.
